BRIDGEND ATHLETIC CLUB is based at the Clubhouse and Running Track behind the BRIDGEND RECREATION CENTRE ,Newbridge Fields ,BRIDGEND, South Wales.
Help is always required for coaching, administration and general assistance. We will give help and arrange training for coaches and officials.The club does not provide coaching & training facilities for those who do not wish to compete for us. We do not provide training purely for recreation or to get fit for other sports" WE ARE A COMPETATIVE ATHLETICS CLUB.

Bridgend Athlete David Guest booked a place in the history books as he smashed the Welsh and British Junior Heptathlon records during the U20/U23 International match between GB&NI and France, held in Bompas, southern France, over the weekend of the 6th and 7th March.
Not only this but Davids score also puts him in 9th in the World on the all time list for u20 Heptathlon.
Everyone at Bridgend AC would like to pass on their congratulations to David and his family (Dad Mike his coach) we are all so proud of their achivements and they are a inspiration to us all.

Congratulations to Kate Roberts (Senior), who capped a fantastic debut cross country season by winning the Senior Ladies Gwent League Title at Bristol on Saturday.
Kate finished 5th in Saturdays race, but her consistency throughout the season gave her the overall honours.
We wish Kate continuing success in her remaining Cross Country, Road and Track fixtures in 2010.
The Juniors also had a good day with Seren Allin winning the u11 girls race and a number of other good performances,please see below.

Would all Juniors who would like to compete please contact me (RichardTidball@aol.com) ASAP with their name DOB and Welsh Athletics Reg number to allow the teams to be selected.
With our current strength in depth at the club in endurance groups we should do really well and be able to field more then one team in most categories ,also the event is on our doorstep!

On Saturday the 27th of February the 48th Welsh Schools National Cross-Country Championships took place in Brecon.
Yet again this was a very successful event for Bridgend Athletes continuing the great winter to date .
There were a total of 488 athletes competing across 8 age groups and Bridgend athletes came away with 5 of the major medals on a the day which is a remarkable haul.
Leading the way was Jonathan Hopkins with Gold in the senior Boys race,also continuing his brilliant winter Morgan Davies Gold in the Middle Boys race and following on from her great victory last week in the Welsh XC champs and the most impressive winner on the day Rosa Yates Gold in the Year 7 race winning by a massive margin of 43 seconds.
The other two medal winners on the day were the every consistent Ffion Lewis with Silver in the Middle girls race after a very gutsy run as usual.
Also winning Silver with a fantastic sprint finish was Megan Osborne in the Junior Girls race.
Other notable performances on the day were ex-member Zoe Thomas 4th in the senior girls ,Sam Longville 8th,Tom Davis 10th and Matthew Weeks 11th all closely grouped in the middle boys race.
Also well done to Caitlin Bryant 9th and Fiona Bray 23rd in the Middle Girls,James Hunt 13th ,Harry Davies 56th and Sion Lewis 61st in the Junior Boys,Jazmine Briganti 14th,Annabel Curle 34th,Lucy Tarrant 48th in the Junior Girls and Rob Davis 41st in the Year 7 Boys.

Please note we will be collecting Tesco Vouchers for schools/Club again this year the scheme restarts in March.
Please could you pass all vouchers to club representative any night at the club.The vouchers will be used to obtain new training equipment for the club.

We will soon be posting and handing out this years membership forms.
Please note that Senior membership has been increased from £35 to £40,for New Junior Members the membership has also been incresed from £25 to £40 but this now includes a club vest.
For renewal of junior membership the fee remains at £25 .
Please note we expect all junior members to pay their training fees by standing order ,currently only 35% do so our target by April is a 80% minimum .
Details of the standing order payments can be found in your membership pack.

The first of the new Athletics Assistant courses is coming to Cardiff on March 20th & 21st 2010 at the National Indoor Athletics Centre, which is situated on the Cyncoed Campus site of the University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC). This will be the first course of its kind in the UK and will be offered at an introductory price of £50 per person (normal price £150).
